In July 2024, I welcomed my fifth little one into the world (Yes, baby #5!), and with that, I stepped into a season of pause. As a photographer, I’ve always been drawn to capturing moments of love, connection, and raw emotion—but this time, I found myself on the other side of the lens, fully immersed in a new chapter of motherhood. For months, I let my camera rest while I embraced the long nights, the quiet snuggles, the overwhelming love, and the chaos that comes with having a newborn. It wasn’t just a break from work; it was a shift in perspective.
The same fleeting moments I encourage my clients to cherish became even more precious in my own life. Every little yawn, tiny hand grasp, and sleepy smile reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place—to freeze time, to hold onto what our hearts never want to forget. But as beautiful as motherhood is, it’s also messy. It’s finding balance when everything feels unsteady. It’s redefining yourself while still holding onto the passions that make you...you! Through it all, I’ve realized something powerful: life doesn’t exist in perfection—it thrives in the in-between, in the real and unfiltered moments.
As I step back behind the lens, I do so with a heart that’s fuller and a perspective that’s richer. My time away has only deepened my love for what I do. I see my clients—especially mothers—with fresh eyes, knowing firsthand the emotions behind every portrait. I want to capture not just the smiles but the stories, the love, the quiet chaos that makes life so beautifully real.
